
"Green Auction: A Bid to Save the Earth" event was held at the Rockefeller Center in New York, organized jointly by Christie's and Vogue, on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Fashion machine Diane Kruger attended the green event wearing a really pretty Jason Wu black silk dress with ¾ sleeves and a puffy skirt with a white inner hemline. Diane Kruger carried off a long braided hairstyle, a Jason Wu clutch, and completed her look with blush satin Salvatore Ferragamo Double Platform Pumps.
Apart from the auction, which raised raised over $1 million, the event also included a Runway to Green fashion show, worked by models like Jessica Stam, Coco Rocha, and Karolina Kurkova, and a performance by Nicki Minaj. Several fashion designers like Michael Kors, Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, and Rachel Roy, were at the event and they pledged to include more green practices in making their clothes. Jason Wu was particularly interested in making green improvements in the dyeing process for clothes. "The information I want for myself from this is: What dyes should we use? What does 'naturally dyed' mean? Is it better for the environment? If it's using thousands of insects that are part of the ecosystem to create the dyes, is that better? I really don't know."
