Pretty Kiira Korpi is a champion figure skater from Finland.

Kiira Korpi turned 22 on September 26, and just a day earlier got herself a great birthday gift. Kiira skated to victory at the Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf, Germany on Saturday, after winning the silver last year. Korpi chose 'Evita' for her new long program. Like in the short, she downgraded her planned triple toe-triple toe to a double-triple, then she popped the Lutz and later doubled a flip. The choreography was done by David Wilson and he will come to Finlandia Trophy and polish the program with Kiira. "At first I was a little afraid, because everybody knows Evita," Korpi confessed, "but this is a strong, emotional and powerful music, and more dramatic than the short program. I like to have a different mood."

Kiira's father Rauno Korpi played ice hockey and coached the women's hockey team of Finland to a bronze medal at the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan. Kiira Korpi became a figure skater at the age of four, although she was also enthusiastic about gymnastics, which she gave up to focus on skating. Her older sister Petra Korpi was also a competitive figure skater until she suffered a hamstring injury, which never healed completely. The sisters are close and Petra says, "I have handled Kiira’s fanmail on the time I have from my studies, and we have even talked about starting a business together, but that’s not current until Kiira’s skating career is over and I have graduated."
Kiira Korpi is 5'6" tall with a slim figure, and she eats healthy: "I eat typical food for athletes: versatile and healthy home food, lots of vegetables and fruits. I don't keep any specific nutrient diary. I prefer eating often rather than larger portions more seldom. The most important thing is to not gain any excess weight."

Left, Kiira Korpi performs in the KCC Switzen Festa on Ice held at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea back in April. That was the time when flights to Finland were canceled due to the volcanic ash cloud from Iceland, and Kiira was stranded in South Korea for a week. To pass the time, the cute figure skater got to throw a ball before a baseball match between the Doosan Bears and SK Wyverns at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. Kiira Korpi's slim figure and fitness comes from her own sport, and other fun activities like rollerblading and snow boarding. She also does running and yoga as part of her fitness schedule.
