Eco-friendly clothes

It's New York Fashion Week and the students at Parsons The New School for Design in that city, have created organic "zero waste" clothes. Most of the textiles and garment industry uses polyester and other synthetic fabrics, which are made with an energy-intensive process requiring large amounts of crude oil and releasing hazardous emissions. Even traditional material like cotton is being produced in non Eco-friendly ways; the cotton crop accounts for a quarter of all the pesticides used in the United States. But damage to the environment doesn't end with the production of clothes; in western markets girls strive to get the latest designs and pretty clothes and junk the old stuff. According to the EPA Office of Solid Waste, Americans throw away more than 68 pounds of clothing and textiles per person per year, making up about 4% of the municipal solid waste!

Second-hand sales of old clothes and recycling of material is helping to reduce the waste in the fashion industry, but it's not enough. The students at Parsons say that goal was to create organic garments with no scraps. Timo Rissanen, assistant professor in Fashion Design and Sustainability, says, "The idea of zero waste is as old as clothing. The Japanese kimono is zero waste, the old underwear in 19th century Europe was mostly zero waste, and American Indians used everything too. It's the industrial revolution which is the cause of the huge waste." Read More......

Katrina Kaif British Indian

Pretty Katrina Kaif is of British and Indian origins, and works as an actress in India. Katrina is wearing Christian Louboutin shoes, a Dolce & Gabbana top, and a Paul Smith skirt, in the February 2011 issue of Indian GQ. With her British NGO mother Suzanne Turquotte, Kaif traveled the world and settled down in London, where she began modeling. Katrina made her Indian movie debut in 2003 with Boom, which was panned by critics, then took lessons to speak proper Hindi without a British accent, and has since become one of India's most popular actresses.

Ashley Greene news

Shiloh Fernandez and Ashley Greene in a scene from their upcoming movie Skateland. "I play Michelle, who's about to graduate from high school," Ashley told Teen Vogue, "and I'm kind of facing the ups and downs of that. I think it's a very relatable film——we have love, loss, and heartbreak." In other movie news, Ashley stars with Jennifer Garner and Olivia Wilde in the comedy Butter, and with Demi Moore and Miley Cyrus in another comedy LOL. The Twilight movies obviously are what she's known for best, and Ashley Greene's athletic body gets more fighting fit for Breaking Dawn:

Ashley Greene in workout clothes for Shape magazine. Ashley, who did hours of fight training for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, said on her Twitter: "I do promote a healthy lifestyle, but do it the right way. Eat well, exercise, and work with what ya got!"

Lately Greene has been making the news for her relationship with Joe Jonas. The 23-year old actress took a night off from shooting Breaking Dawn on January 29, and went to Ichiban Grill and Sushi Bar in Baton Rouge, with Joe Jonas. Ashley and Joe each had an Ichiban sushi role, shrimp and steak hibachi and they washed it all down with Kieran Ichiban Japanese beer. "Everyone around them was watching them and was completely starstruck," the manager told Hollywood Life. "But they didn't mind and were kissing, and very intimate with each other. They whispered to each other the whole night." Ashley has previously told Cosmopolitan: "I'm indifferent about marriage. I think sometimes people get married just so they can say they have that person forever. But a ring doesn't ensure that you'll stay together. Watch, now that I've said that, I will be the first of my friends to get married...."

Ashley Green looks pretty in the March 2011 issue of Teen Vogue, wearing a Paul Smith cardigan, Oscar de la Renta dress, and a Tom Binns bracelet. Growing up in Jacksonville, she recalls, "I just didn't know what I could do. I didn't think that I'd ever wear these amazing clothes, and I didn't think I would be an actress. Now," she says, "I've realized that I can do whatever I want."
